Location: Washington D.C.
Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000, Bay Area, California depending on experience and location (range will be adjusted for location)

Purpose of The Position:
The Government Affairs Associate is integral for providing support to our government affairs team in legislative and policy research projects, federal-and-state-level tracking and analysis, meeting and project coordination, outreach to stakeholders, elected officials, and agency staff, and other support as needed. The Government Affairs Associate provides additional capacity to the director in terms of logistical support for Hill Day and other D.C.-based events while maintaining processes, systems, communications, and information.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience are required
Prior experience working in Congress, an advocacy organization, trade association, or federal agency required
General understanding of the inner workings of Congress, committees, as well as government departments, and agencies
Enjoy working in a fast-paced and often changing environment
Superb writing skills and the ability to compile all necessary information for decision-making, reporting, and presentations
Preferred Education/Skills/Experience:
Personal qualities include energy, intelligence, diplomacy, sound practical judgment, the ability to work independently with limited supervision
Strong organization skills
Comfortable communicating our positions to advocates and legislators
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors, tracks, researches, and reports on legislative issues and actions for state and federal government affairs initiatives through Quorum
Tracking testimony, hearings, floor debates, and bills on the state and federal levels. This work may also include Internet research, reviewing newspapers, and online services for items of interest
Runs reports, update spreadsheets and maintains precise records including message analytics
Meeting management includes, developing and preparing materials, sending invitations, coordinating logistics, and other associated tasks for events such as conference calls, webinars, and fly-ins
Assists with special projects as needed
Travel:
Must be willing and able to travel occasionally (estimated 10%), including for in-person staff meetings and retreats, upon safely resuming in-person travel.

All full-time Dream.org employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream.org also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
