Occupational Summary
Manage and coordinate personnel activities of a large, complex department or division to include recruitment, placement and termination of employees, classification and salary administration, interpretation of personnel policies, and employee relations functions to meet University and departmental objectives.
Work Performed
Manage and coordinate human resource activities related to staff recruitment, onboarding, orientation, development, termination, and reduction in force.
Manage all human resource activities related to faculty including University/PDC payroll, benefits, salary setting, leaves and terminations. Supervise staff members managing faculty appointments, promotions and credentialing.
Advise and assist management, faculty, and staff in the handling of employee relation issues, complaints and/or grievances and determination of appropriate disciplinary actions; assist management at grievance hearings, dismissal conference and arbitration.
Serve as a liaison between department and corporate HR offices (Staff &Labor).
Manage department personnel database. Submit faculty hiring requests (faculty position management) to the SoM via the DMR system.
Meet with prospective faculty candidates to discuss University and PDC benefits. Serve as liaison between Regional HR Huband Department. Interpret personnel policy intent and acceptable management practices to ensure fair and consistent application of University policies. Create Departmental procedures related to human resources in accordance with established University policy.
Represent the Department at Institutional human resources meetings. Provide direction and education to supervisors and staff in regard to the performance evaluation process.
Manage departmental Leave of Absence process (FMLA, Personal Leave, Administrative Leave) communicate wand educate faculty and staff on new programs involving benefits and continuing education.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires a general business or personnel background generally equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience
Work requires five years of business and/or administrative experience, with exposure to human resources activities, to acquire knowledge of human resources policies and procedures necessary to manage the personnel activities of a major department or division OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
