I have a great opportunity for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist with a well established Logistics Company in San Leandro, CA. This is a direct hire position, and they are offering an attractive salary plus bonus and excellent benefits.
The position of Payroll & Benefits Specialist requires a motivated person that is detail oriented, is able to work both independently and as a team member and meet tight deadlines to ensure superior service and support to the company’s multiple business units and the company’s Human Resources Department. Depending on the needs of the company, other assignments may be added to this job description as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll for employees located in both California and the state of Washington and for union and non-union employees.
· Input and maintain employee information including new hires, terminations, address changes, position changes, salaries & adjustments, vacations, attendance, and benefits.
· Candidate must have experience working in ADP Workforce Now.
· Audit payroll time sheets for accuracy and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
· Process wage garnishments and respond to corresponding agencies
· Create and run payroll reports for HR and Management.
· Track vacation, PTO, and sick leave
· Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws ensuring ADP system is up to date with new laws and regulations
· Investigate and resolve any issues, questions, or discrepancies in paychecks.
· Execution and calculation of e-time, timecards and spreadsheet for semi-monthly payroll in timely manner.
· Perform reconciliation of payroll related deductions and general ledger accounts including 401k and other benefits.
· Benefit accruals in payroll system according to company policy/procedure.
· Reconciles monthly benefit deductions and pay invoices.
· Reconciles and pays monthly union dues.
· Ensures Annual & Step-progression union increases are current. Must process change of status for all union increases in a timely manner.
· Reconcile payroll data prior to transmission of ADP and validate confirmed reports.
· Update and reconcile monthly statements from ADP.
· Understand usage of proper payroll taxation of employer paid benefits.
· Prepare Government & company required reports on a timely basis as required.
· Back-up HR Manager with FMLA/PDL and other leaves of absence.
· Back-up to HR Assistant duties.
