Does difficult and responsible subprofessional engineering work in supervising field survey work; supervises engineering inspection; and performs other related duties as required.
The Engineering Technician series DOES NOT PROGRESS TO THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER SERIES, such as Civil Engineer I-V, Electrical Engineer I-V, or Mechanical Engineer I-V.
Current Vacancies: There are 2 vacancies with the Department of Design & Construction, Land Division. These positions serve as the Chief of Party of a survey crew assigned to perform all of the necessary field survey work involved in boundary, original land title, and construction surveys.Special Working Conditions: May work in traffic, climb mountains and hazardous terrain (forest, swamp, streams, shoreline, construction sites, etc.).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Five years of experience in field surveying.
Substitution: Completion of a two-year engineering technician program at a technical school or community college, or two years of college civil engineering curriculum may be substituted for one year of the required experience in field surveying.Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit for the substitution. Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma (completion of an Engineering Technician Program) and/or official transcript (completion of 2 years of a Civil Engineering curriculum) which shows the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application. Or mail a photocopy of your diploma and/or official transcript within 7 days of filing your application to the following address: Department of Human Resources, 650 South King Street, 10th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. Copies will not be returned. All information on your documentation must be legible and complete in order to be given credit.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
