The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment. She/he will work independently and together with members of a cross-functional team to organize and implement plans to meet project goals.
Working as part of a creative team, this individual will be responsible for facilitating content development and completing website requests from various departments. In addition, this position will assist with on-going search engine optimization efforts, website measurement and website development to ensure the Gannon website aligns with the University’s Mission, goals and objectives. Customer service is a critical component of this position, as this individual will have direct lines of communications with internal and external constituents to support relationships through the maintenance of Gannon’s website.
The candidate must also be able to support the Integrated Marketing Communications plan, the crisis communication efforts of the University, and the University Mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensures the website is up-to-date and that it remains an effective recruitment tool by updating content and collaborating with internal audiences on website requests that will help promote their initiatives and University programs most effectively.
Facilitates the creation of new written/media content with members of the marketing team to align the website with existing marketing strategies and objectives.
Assists in the development of advertising landing pages, process automation and new functionality for the website that align with best practice standards and meet web accessibility requirements.
Supports the maintenance of websites created by the department and provides training and support for web-based applications as needed.
Assists in monitoring website analytics and developing detailed reports using Google Analytics.
Evaluates and assists in executing new industry trends and best practices.
Collaborates on strategies for content and layout to improve user experience and usability.
Performs search engine optimization and monitors the results across academic pages.
Supports all functions of crisis communications and reputation management of the University while meeting time requirements as needed.
Performs other related duties within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports to the Assistant Director for Web Strategy and Development
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Internal: Has regular contact with employees and students at the University.
External:Contact with external parties and stakeholders will occur, primarily working with vendors that provide services for university websites. The type of external constituents the individual in this position will be in contact with will vary based on the scope of the project or job task.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, computer science or a related field
Two to three years of professional web experience is preferred
Strong experience with HTML/CSS and JavaScript
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, C# programming and SQL database development
Experience with Adobe Photoshop and knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
Experience monitoring and reporting website performance with Google Analytics
Previous work within a higher education environment is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to deliver websites and functionality from concept to design to production.
Familiarity with website accessibility requirements
Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and implementation
Proficient knowledge of Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to communicate with a wide variety of personalities in a professional manner
Ability to complete assignments accurately and on time
Superior organizational skills, an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal/communication skills
Excellent proofreading skills and keen attention to detail
