About the Club: The Genesee Valley Club was conceived in the Powers Block, Room 49 at the office of Hobart F. Atkinson (the Club’s first president) on January 22, 1885. Invitations had gone out “to meet, for the purpose of organization, your associates interested in the new Social Club” at 8 pm on Thursday, January 22, 1885. About the Role: Genesee Valley Club is looking for an accomplished Human Resources professional with strong generalist and payroll experience to be the first point of contact for employees’ HR related questions and issues, supporting managers and being a part of the club’s leadership team.
Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Payroll administration and HRIS maintenance
· Responsible for Leave of Absence administration including FMLA, NYS PFL, Workers Comp, Short and Long Term Disability claims
· Conduct recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt employees. Work with outside suppliers to provide employees services, such as temporary workers.
· Responsible for new employee orientation and on-boarding process to increase time to new hire competence and effectiveness, employee satisfaction, and long term retention. Advise and participate with management in talent development objectives for employees across the organization.
· Administer some of the training, including NYS Sexual Harassment Prevention training
· Investigate employee complaints, making management aware of such complaints and insuring timely and equitable resolutions. Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
· Participate in the evaluation of new or revised job descriptions as well as involvement in the approval process for items such as promotions, increases and other personnel transactions. Responsible to ensure that the associated paperwork is complete and correct.
· Provide various reports, both internal and external, and maintain employee handbook up-to-date.
· Assist in the administration of the performance management program and support the salary administration program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
· Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Competencies Required:
· BS or BA in Human Resources or related discipline
· At least 5 years Human Resources experience
· Familiar with HRIS systems and programs/reports related to the Human Resources function. Prior experience /background with HRIS and payroll functions. Paychex preferred.
· Ability to read, write and speak English and be able to effectively present information to employees as well as to management.
· Ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization, listening and counseling on employee relations issues.
· Utilize Microsoft Suite Products to write correspondence, reports, etc. and develop spreadsheets for analysis, interpretation, and graphic display of information.
· Knowledge in all aspects of the human resource field, i.e., labor law, training, benefits, and compensation.
· Knowledge of local, state and federal employment and labor laws, regulations, and agencies; governmental compliance requirements and immigration laws.
· Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
Competencies Preferred:
· Previous Human Resources experience in Hospitality industry preferred.
· PHR or SHRM Certification
