Responsibilities:
Analyzes information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After analyzing the information, makes recommendations on changes.
Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.
Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
Collaborates with legal counsel in addressing employee issues and provide direction for managers in resolving employee concerns.
Maintain good communication and positive relationships with employees to promote employee satisfaction.
Oversee the performance management and goal setting processes. Ensure timely and accurate completion of performance management documents.
Works with Goodwill Industries of the Valleys leadership to identify employment related issues, coordinate the proper documentation and resolution of the employees’ concerns.
Collect, track and oversee the pre-nomination forms and processes for internal advancements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning employee relations.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques.
Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and compensation administration.
Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
Bachelor’s degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources, related field or combination of education and experience required.
Four years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Special Requirements:
Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends. This position may require travel to multiple locations.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance to drive a personal car for company business. Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record based on Goodwill’s guidelines to drive a company vehicle.
