Position Overview:

We are seeking a Logistics Assistant to support our Government client in Newport, RI. The successful candidate must be familiar with or be able to learn Navy/DOD supply systems.

Position Responsibilities:

• Order/procure parts and tools needed for system repair and install and be able to forecast or anticipate material needs based on current supply availability and historical usage rate.
• Provide support to technicians/engineers by performing material research, and resolve material issues and discrepancies.
• Work closely with shipping and procurement, generate shipping documents, track material orders and shipment to insure timely receipt and delivery.
• Ability to generate supply and material status reports and participate in meetings as needed.
• Communicate and coordinate with vendors and local service providers. Pick up and deliver parts for refurbishment, machining, painting, etc. to local service providers.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Active Secret Clearance preferred
• Must have a valid United States Driver’s License
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in operational logistics
• Must have familiarity with DoD Supply technical and administration policies, procedures, and practices.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to frequently lift at least 50 lbs
• Strong preference given to those with Navy Supply ERP (SAP) experience
