Current Vacancy:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Community Services, Community Based Development Division (CBDD). This position, under the direction of the Administrator of the Community Based Development Division, serves as the Chief of the Development Coordination and Fair Housing Branch and provides leadership and direction to members of the branch by promptly addressing and resolving issues and challenges encountered by branch staff, and by managing and coordinating the work of branch staff both individually and as members of multi-disciplinary teams. This position also serves as the City’s Fair Housing Officer and is responsible for fulfilling the mandate of the federal government that the City and County of Honolulu affirmatively further fair housing policies. This position is also responsible for asset management activities relating to the City’s inventory of special needs housing facilities, and for the overall coordination of branch staff in the administration of budgets, policies, plans, projects, and programs related to capital improvement projects, acquisition of real properties, funding development of affordable housing and community development projects.

Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Six years of professional (i.e., post-bachelor’s degree, non-clerical) experience which shall have demonstrated a working knowledge of housing or property management activities, including or supplemented by one year of responsible supervisory or coordinative experience.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of supervision; Federal, State, and local laws relating to the functional area assigned; principles, practices and techniques applicable to the functional areas assigned; public relations; principles and practices of public administration and social service; real estate terms, laws, rules and regulations; and the ability to interpret and explain laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; plan, organize and coordinate work; analyze reports and statistical data and make recommendations thereon; present ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, orally and in writing; deal tactfully and effectively with others.
