Assists in the inspection of commercial and residential buildings and other structures used for habitation for compliance with provisions of the City and County Housing Code; inspects sites and inspecting buildings/sites of limited size and scope for compliance with provisions of the Comprehensive Zoning Code; inspects sidewalk areas and vacant lots for compliance with pertinent ordinances; issues citations and recommends corrective action for non-conformance; maintains records and prepares reports of inspections; and performs other duties as required.
Current Vacancies:
There are three (3) vacancies with the Department of Planning and Permitting, Customer Service Office. The current vacancies require the use of a personal vehicle and valid automobile insurance coverage (mileage will be reimbursed).

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of experience in inspectional or investigatory work or interpreting and/or applying the Building Code and related ordinances.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of inspectional and investigative methods and techniques; and the ability to interpret and apply building codes and/or related ordinances.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid driver’s license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
