The expectation for any Human Resources Specialist II (HRS II) position in this department is to learn and progress upward to higher HRS levels. A HRS II (SR-18) may progress up the career ladder with satisfactory work experience and demonstration of applicable knowledge and skills up to a HRS V (SR-24). There may be promotional opportunities above the HRS V level.

(b) Six months of professional human resources management work experience pertinent to examination (i.e., employment testing and assessment).
Clerical or technical experience in a human resources management program involving work which is limited to the application of human resources management rules, regulations and procedures in support of the human resources management functions described above is not qualifying.
Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license, as required.

(a) one year of professional (post-bachelor’s degree; non-clerical) human resources management work experience or other responsible professional work experience which required substantial use of analytical skill and involved gathering, evaluating and analyzing facts and other pertinent information required to resolve problems and/or to determine and recommend appropriate courses of action; reading, comprehending, interpreting and evaluating technical subjects, analysis or proposals; and applying problem solving methods and techniques, such as defining and analyzing problems, identifying alternative courses of action, using judgment in determining appropriate alternatives; and preparing clear and concise written reports and recommendations for action; or
(b) six months of professional (post-bachelor’s degree; non-clerical) human resources management work experience pertinent to classification and pay (e.g., systematic evaluation of duties, responsibilities, scope, and complexity of a position to determine the job title and specifications that best matches the job; assessment of the impact to positions based on organizational changes; determination of the appropriate pricing for new classes, differentials, and other pay matters ), or examination (i.e., employment testing and assessment).
Substitution: A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or Public Administration from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the one year of professional human resources management work experience.
