The Sales Director will be responsible for managing the sales team of an architectural lighting manufacturing company. The primary objective of this role is to expand sales channels, develop partnerships, grow the direct sales market, and support existing and priority Architecture & Design(A&D) accounts. The Sales Director will be instrumental in developing and implementing a long-term sales strategy for the company and overseeing day-to-day sales activities. This position is a full-time on-site position based in New York, NY.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7-10 years of lighting industry experience in addition to 5+ years of experience in sales management with a strong preference for Architecture & Design industry sales.
Essential Functions:
Set and refine long-term sales strategy: Evaluate and refine the company’s long-term sales strategy based on attainable targets and milestones, with the goal of meeting or surpassing company goals.
Track sales goals and reporting: Monitor and track sales goals, regularly report results to the President and analyze the effectiveness of sales strategies in achieving sales and margin targets.
Cultivate A&D relationships: Cultivate and deepen key Architecture & Design (A&D) relationships and partnerships to expand the company’s customer base and market presence.
Team coaching and development: Coach sales team members on integrating a unified message across all media platforms to reach more customers and expand brand recognition. Provide mentorship, inspiration, counseling, and product knowledge education to develop the sales team.
Collaboration with marketing team: Coordinate with the marketing team to provide input on sales tools and lead outreach initiatives, ensuring alignment between sales and marketing efforts.
Sles team performance management: Oversee the activities and performance of the sales team, provide guidance, support, and feedback to maximize individual and team performance.
Product knowledge and industry awareness: Stay updated on the latest company products and industry trends to effectively communicate product benefits and advantages to customers.
Office management systems and CRM: Utilize a broad range of office management systems and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to streamline sales processes, track customer interactions, and generate sales reports.
Problem-solving and critical thinking: Apply excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and address sales-related challenges, optimize sales strategies, and achieve sales targets.
Innovative leadership and team culture: Foster an inspired and results-oriented team culture through innovative leadership approaches, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Client-centric sales techniques: Apply a consultative and client-centric sales approach, understanding customer needs and providing tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
