HR & Payroll Specialist:
Summary/Objective
The HR & Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing payroll accurately using QuickBooks Desktop, as well as managing a variety of HR tasks. This is a part-time or independent contractor position of roughly 5-10 hours/week.
Essential Functions:
Preparing payroll using QuickBooks Desktop
Manage the full cycle of staffing: writing job descriptions and posting to job boards, reviewing resumes, interviewing, checking references, onboarding, 90 day and annual performance reviews, recognition and retention.
Create/maintain new hire and terminated employee records according to protocols
Track employee vacation, sick, etc.
Prepare new-hire paperwork using the BambooHR system
Conduct periodic market & industry pay & benefits surveys to ensure compensation plans remain competitive
Work with managers to tie employee/role goals to larger company goals; ensure each role’s compensation is tied to the individual’s performance and to the company’s performance
Meet quarterly with managers to monitor progress on their team’s individual goals and company goals
Maintain professional and technical knowledge as needed to ensure company stays in compliance; acts as primary resource to ensure company is in compliance on all HR rules and regulations.
Maintain the employee handbook with updated resolutions and other pertinent information, as needed. Answer any employee questions on the handbook.
Support managers as needed with addressing any disciplinary actions to be taken.
Address employee relations issues, such as work complaints or other employee concerns
Schedule, attend, and document all employee reviews and exit interviews; plan for reviews beforehand with managers and senior leadership to properly set goals and compensation.

Decent working knowledge of MS Office
QuickBooks Desktop experience a plus
Knowledge of employment law
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Human Resources/Organizational Behavior/Labor Relations/Employee Relations. HR certification a plus.
