Maybelle Center for Community Hiring for People & Culture Director Job at Portland, OR Full Time

Primary Responsibilities

We’re looking for someone to be our inaugural People and Culture Director whose impactful and innovative approach, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to connect with other humans can lead us in our transition from “managers do HR the best they can with consultant help” to a streamlined in-house system that includes guidance and support for all parts of the HR lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, ensure accountability, and promote continuous improvement in the ways in which we attract, support, develop, and retain our organization’s employees. Recommend, evaluate, and participate in organizational efforts to promote equity and inclusion in the workplace.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
• Plan, develop, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
• Deliver end-to-end internal employee engagement plans and campaigns to inspire and connect with employees. This will involve supporting senior leaders in their communications efforts to provide timely and consistent information about changes and updates.
• Administer and oversee the administration of human resource policies, training, and support including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
• Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute equitable best practices for hiring and talent management across all departments.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review/modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and progressive technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to all managers.
• Oversee professional development, training, and certification activities for all staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years experience in the practice of employee relations, benefits, talent acquisition, HRIS, and ATS management, training, succession planning, offboarding, performance review/management, and coaching. Familiarity with Community Based Care a plus.
• A minimum of three (3) years of human resource experience at the manager level, ideally in a non-profit and/or social service agency.
• Demonstrated experience centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in HR or People Operations is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related discipline. PHR/SPHR (or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
• Experience or specialized training in the administration of benefits packages, including medical, dental, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans.
• Ability to develop, implement, enforce, and update organizational policies, practices, and processes.

Maybelle Center Requirements

Each Maybelle Center employee is required to receive COVID-19 vaccine unless a qualified religious or medical exception is obtained.

Benefits

The hiring range for this full-time position is $90,000-$105,000, commensurate with experience and skills. Maybelle Center offers excellent benefits, including health, dental, vision insurance; EAP program, 401k, paid parking or transit, and paid time off.
