PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director of Employee Relations works closely with the VP ER/LR Operations in creating, planning and directing all aspects of the Company’s ER/LR Center of Excellence with an emphasis on ER functions, including ensuring adherence to labor laws, regulations, and policies and procedures. This Director executes comprehensive strategies, initiatives, action plans and processes to improve critical organizational performance in the areas of employee engagement and employee relations excellence.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the ER Center of Excellence staff in meeting service level agreements around timely resolution of ER situations and reduction in expenses related to unfavorable outcomes.
- Provide advice and counsel to operational and property HR leaders on escalated employee relations situations.
- Consult, support and provide guidance to HR property leaders on employee relations trends in their business units.
- Facilitate and monitor effectiveness of Employee Relations training tools for operational management.
- Oversee employee relations metrics, scorecards and dashboards.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
- Four (4) years in a Human Resources leadership role
PREFERRED:
- Advanced degree in related field
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification
- Operational experience in a Hospitality, Gaming or similar setting
- Experience in conflict resolution or mediation
- Minimum of 7 years experience in an Employee or Labor Relations role
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Licensure and/or registration for various states where we operate properties to be determined by Corporate Compliance and/or Legal
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership abilities, sound judgement, superior decision making and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the business drivers in the industry
- Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders
- Strong understanding of, and ability to explain to others, ER metrics and processes
- Thorough understanding of labor statutes and regulations
