Modern Shaman Hiring for Line Cook/Prep Cook Job at Whittier, CA Full Time

We’re an established, expanding restaurant in Uptown Whittier with a creative plant-based comfort-food menu. We’re looking for a few Prep Cooks and Line Cooks to join our team as we open more kitchens in the South Bay now, and soon in Long Beach. Training will take place in Whittier.

Requires a minimum of 6 months prep and/or line cook experience. We’re willing to train to take you to the next level.

Additional Requirements:

PREP COOK: Experience with following recipes, measurements, knife skills, and extreme focus on quality, flavors and consistency.

LINE COOK: An ability to learn and manage multiple stations (sauté, pantry, fryer, salad) while working at max efficiency.

• Resourceful, well organized, extremely clean work habits, a desire to succeed, grow, and laugh.
• Able to think quick, multi-task, and keep a sense of humor in a busy environment.
• Dependable team player with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and always on time.
• Ability to communicate effectively and a desire to be part of an environment of camaraderie and professionalism.
• A desire to contribute to menu development and an interest in vegan cuisine.
• Approximate seven-hour shifts on your feet and some lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Hold a current CA food handlers card.
• Experience with and knowledge of vegan ingredients and substitutes a plus!

We’re all about serving delicious plant-based food that’s good for your body and good for the planet. We were recently named (April 2022) one of the “22 Essential Los Angeles Vegetarian Restaurants” by Eater LA for the 4th year in a row. Being vegan is not required, but a passion for making creative, craveable cuisine is.

We’ll provide full training on our recipes and operations. Shifts may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
