The Head of Communications & Community Strategy will lead communication (earned) and content (owned) strategy, development and distribution to bring Molekule brand messages and story to life across a diverse mix of brand and social media channels across DTC and B2B lines of business. This role will focus on transforming brand and product marketing strategy into best-in-class content that accelerates community growth and deepens Molekule’s relationship to its audience and clients.
The Director, Comms & Community Strategy is a key leadership position on the marketing team, and requires partnership with cross-functional teams, including Brand Marketing, Growth, Creative, Customer Lifecycle and Paid Media to create holistic and efficient communications and content plans that support each team’s respective needs and overall brand objectives. They will serve as the content nucleus and expert, ensuring strategic development and distribution of content through owned and earned media channels that fuel a client-centric consumer journey across various brand touchpoints. This person will also oversee organic social strategy and execution, influencer strategy and network development, and cross-functional content management.
Across all phases of content planning, production and launch, the ideal candidate will partner with the Creative Team to ensure consistency, tone and aesthetic. This individual will be an expert on digital media marketing trends, and will constantly drive innovation, leveraging data, insights and competitive analysis to drive concepting and optimize content across owned and earned channels.
This role reports directly to the SVP of Growth Marketing and will manage the day-to-day of the Communications, Owned Content, Social, and Influencer, as well as agency partners.

What you will own:
Communications Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall goals and objectives and in support of the content strategy
- Lead and manage a team and agency of communications professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their success
- Create and execute communications plans for key initiatives, including product launches, corporate announcements, and crisis communications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Growth, Creative, Customer Lifecycle, Sales, and Paid Media Leadership, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of communications and channel efforts
- Oversee the development and maintenance of all external communications materials, including press releases, media kits, website content, social media content, and other collateral
- Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, industry influencers, and stakeholders to enhance the organization’s brand reputation
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends to inform communications strategies and identify potential risks or opportunities
- Manage and coordinate corporate events, including press conferences, product launches, and industry conferences
- Develop and implement internal communications initiatives to ensure effective communication and engagement among employees at all levels of the organization
- Provide crisis communication support, including developing crisis communication plans, managing media inquiries, and coordinating messaging and responses during times of crisis
- Develop and manage the communications budget, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, and budget tracking
- Stay updated on communications best practices, emerging trends, and technologies, and make recommendations for continuous improvement of the organization’s communications efforts
Content Strategy:- Lead development of Molekule’s annual content strategy, with input from Brand, Growth and Creative teams, that fuels holistic, efficient consumer journey for key audiences, touchpoints and objectives
- Partner with Marketing Channel Leads team to translate objectives and messages from new product launches, educational and always on campaigns into content customized for various channels
- Collaborate with Growth team to develop evergreen and ad hoc content for key initiatives/channels like our loyalty program, .co, email flows and paid advertising
- Collaborate and lead creative brief development to inspire dynamic, on brand creative concepts that translate into efficient and channel-specific content
- Oversee content pipeline from owned, earned and UGC content and identify opportunities to efficiently source or create content for appropriate brand channels
- Support creative through content production guidance to ensure smooth, organized shoot concepting, planning, and execution. Champion brand guidelines and ensure brand pillars are supported throughout content development. Encourage introspection, commitment to quality and radical inclusivity, and challenge team to innovate while maintaining brand standards
- Stay on top of insights, trends and cultural conversation and funnel into content briefs to drive relevance and engagement on key brand channels
Social Strategy:- Oversee development of Molekule’s social strategy based on brand values, competitive, performance, best practices and marketing objectives, with support from social team
- Manage Social Media Marketing Manager to maintain social calendar, day-to-day content needs, ensuring content plans deliver on broader brand and business objectives
- Develop and implement the content strategy to increase engagement across follower base on social platforms while driving traffic to e-commerce website
- Optimize the brand’s presence on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Tiktok, LinkedIn and other relevant social media platforms and any new channels that may arise
- Lead strategy and ideation of regular and ongoing social and community-centric campaigns and activations to drive deeper engagement and growth with audiences
- Oversee translation of social initiatives into creative briefs that are customized to platforms while maintaining brand tone, guiding creation of content that is native, topical and innovative
- Proactively identify opportunities on new and existing channels, e.g. beta tests or launches of new features. Investigate with platforms/vendors and develop proposals or test-and-learns for worthwhile opportunities and oversee successful implementation and measurement
- Manage budget, scope and relationship with third party vendors and platform management tools
Influencer Strategy:- Oversee development of annual Influencer Strategy. Oversee creation of forward-thinking influencer marketing strategies in alignment with overall marketing strategy that constantly explores new ways to collaborate with Influencers to build brand awareness, affinity and credibility
- Guide scaling and growth of influencer network with the social media manager and PR firm. Assist team in deciding on platforms, incentive structures, and scalable influencer network solutions
- Oversee strategic approach for Influencer campaigns, campaign execution and constantly refining content and partnership briefs to yield high quality, engaging content that supports brand objectives. Support ideation of new approaches, messages and ways in for custom content to drive innovation and desire to collaborate within influencer community
- Oversee reporting and analysis of Influencer content, management of dashboards and data from 3rd party partners to develop consistent and coherent reporting. Establish best practices and leverage data to inform future activations and creative development to optimize content/efforts
What You Bring To The Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in communications, public relations, content development and strategy, or related roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies in a corporate or organizational setting
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team of communications professionals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages for various audiences and channels
- Demonstrated experience in media relations, including building relationships with media contacts and securing positive media coverage
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential communication challenges
- Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and their role in corporate communications
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to achieve organizational goals
- Experience in crisis communication and issues management is highly desirable
- Passionate about the brand with a deep appreciation for the product and brand pillars
- B2B and Consumer experience to lead brand effort in putting consumers, influencers and advocates at the center of its communication strategy
- Passion for storytelling, ability to convey concepts and information in a succinct and visually compelling way
- Proven track record of creating breakthrough, on brand, efficient campaigns with complex cross-platform scope
- Creative & curious – constantly exploring new opportunities & ideas within the industry & social space, eager to share learnings with team and collaborate
- Pop culture and category savvy to identify trends, best practices and key influencers that we can target/follow through our social media outreach
- Well organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
- Resourceful self-starter, with a can-do attitude that thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 – $193,000 + Benefits + 401k Match + Commission. Molekule takes a market-based approach to salary ranges. Our salary ranges are determined by role, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training, level, and location. The range displayed on each posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include benefits & 401K Match.
