This role will support the employee experience in collaboration with HR and the Operations Team. You will be responsible for performing HR payroll administration duties in supporting overall business objectives within a unionized environment. You will process and submit bi-weekly hourly payroll and reporting utilizing the Payroll System and work directly with hourly personnel and key stakeholders solving issues pertaining to payroll and timekeeping.
Responsibilities:
Maintain records of employee earnings
Maintain Time System to make necessary adjustments/edits to hours worked, shift differentials, overtime hours and distribution of labor charges
Update master record for new hires, terminations, transfers, rate changes, and deductions prior to processing weekly payroll
Create payroll batches for paid-time off (vacation), hours adjustment, and other earnings
Enter data and maintain Wage Garnishment Processing Service (WPGS) to process court garnishments, IRS Levies, and other Child Support Orders. Maintain records and remit payments to the court monthly
Run monthly report for Union Dues and submit check request to General Accounting for payment to vendor
Run vacation/allowed/taken balance report quarterly and send to Department Managers and Supervisors
Maintain headcount and hours worked for temporary employees to submit to payroll manager for month-end closing
Maintain payroll files & process requests for Verification of Employment
Maintain confidentiality of payroll by restricting entry of unauthorized personnel into the payroll unit and unauthorized access to the confidential files and reports
Process salaried payroll in absence of the Payroll Manager
Qualifications:
High school or equivalent with training in accounting procedures and computer systems required
Must have a minimum of one year experience with payroll and time reporting systems
High level of computer and accounting skills required, good basic math skills
Customer focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism and discretion
Superior communication (verbal/written) skills
Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws
Possess superior organization and time management, critical thinking, EQ, good attention to detail a must
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong team player
Office 365, MS Suite, HRIS experience, good report writing and data analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications:
ADP is a plus
Knowledge of human resources best practices and processes
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Requires mental attention. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department within a manufacturing environment and wear, when required, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs and safety shoes. May require minimal travel locally or within the US
