Mosaic Foods Hiring for HR Generalist at Woodland Park, NJ Full Time

Mosaic, a New Jersey based startup reinventing the plant-based frozen food industry, seeks an experienced HR Generalist for a part-time role in our NJ facility. As our HR Generalist, you will be responsible for onboarding and assisting with benefits administration, recruiting hourly employees, and being the first point of contact for HR processes and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Onboard NJ warehouse and NYC corporate employees, helping them select benefits and get set up on Mosaic systems, and assist during yearly benefits election as the point person for Mosaic’s benefits administrators
• Lead employee recruitment for NJ warehouse staff and support with NYC corporate, including posting job descriptions, working with temp agencies, and screening resumes
• Manage timekeeping, attendance, and payroll for NJ hourly staff
• Conduct weekly office hours with NJ staff to receive and address employee feedback
• Be the first point of contact for HR concerns, helping to resolve employee relation issues, conducting investigations when complaints arise, and reporting results back to leadership
• Administer and stay up to date on employee trainings (e.g., sexual harassment, inclusion, etc.)
• Stay up to date on federal, state, and local laws and best practices and update policies to ensure continued compliance
• Coordinate and organize special events such as town halls or parties and act as the HR champion for team culture and morale
• Manage and execute on special projects for HR as required

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate:

• Has 2+ years of experience in a previous HR role, preferably with some experience working in a production/warehouse setting
• Can commit to a reliable weekly schedule of ~20 hours, though the specific days on site are flexible
• Speaks English and Spanish (the majority of our warehouse employees are Spanish speaking)
• Has strong verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills including effective listening and tactful probing
• Feels adept at dealing with conflict resolution, handling uncomfortable situations, and managing confidential information with professionalism
• Has excellent organization and time-management kills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
• Has a bachelor’s degree, though equivalent job experience will also be considered

Location

The HR Generalist will primarily work in our distribution center in Woodland Park, NJ and should plan to be there in person 2-3 days per week to be accessible to NJ staff as needed.

We started Mosaic with a bold yet simple vision: to put good food on every table.

In 2018, tired of unhealthy fast-food and expensive salads, we (co-founders Matt & Sam) were searching for a way to make wholesome, plant-rich eating easy. Our quest led us to the frozen aisle of our local grocery store, where we saw disappointing options but incredible promise. We started asking ourselves: could we combine the convenience and affordability of the frozen aisle with the amazing taste and healthiness of plant-forward home cooking?

We launched our first product line in May 2019 and are currently selling direct-to-consumer to customers across the US. This is just the beginning: there is so much left for us to build. The next few years will be focused on bringing exciting new products to market, making Mosaic available across the country (and through novel channels) and developing a more vertically integrated supply chain.
