This position is currently located within the Department of Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult Correction when it is established on January 1st, 2023.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits.
The mission of Community Corrections is to protect the safety of citizens in communities throughout the state by providing viable alternatives and meaningful supervision to offenders on probation, parole or post-release supervision. The primary goal of Community Corrections is to reach an equal balance of control and treatment for offenders that will positively affect their behavior and lifestyle patterns. Probation /parole officers protect the public safety by helping offenders learn to live within the law. They supervise offenders’ activities in the community and ensure their compliance with court orders and sanctions.

The primary purpose of the Business Officer I position is to administer and manage the business and financial affairs of Community Corrections administration. This position will review and direct procurement activity for Community Corrections, while also helping to monitor operating budgets. This position is responsible managing and coaching the accounting staff within the section to ensure compliance with standard policies and procedures and achieving optimal performance. The main areas of responsibility include;
This position will guide fiscal staff in general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract administration, budget reports and financial statements, disposition of surplus property, fixed asset and equipment reports, monitoring of leases, research and disposition of vendor statements as they pertain to the substance abuse screening, intervention programming and electronic monitoring operations. This position shall coordinate the evaluation, selection and ordering of officer safety equipment. This position is expected to research and resolve fiscal and procurement issues escalated by subordinate staff or referred by management.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive related experience, one year of which should be in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
