This administrative position performs various clerical duties for the Interstate Maintenance Unit in Division 10 located at our ITP location in Matthews. This is a support role with a significant concentration in records and reports, file management and public contact duties include completing and receiving administrative documents, answering phone, responding to the public, prepare and process reports, forms, documents, correspondence, filing and maintaining file system, backup for handling/distribute incoming and outgoing mail, and act as a liaison with other state offices. Process payroll/time entry, process fiscal documents such as invoices for payment, requisitions, and Purchase Order Contracts. Other general office responsibilities will be assigned as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel
Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and proofreading
Additional Expectations:
Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, typewriter, telephone, copier, fax, etc. Knowledge in state government related personnel policies, procedures, and programs. Ability to learn and apply data into in-house computer programs such as SAP and the Beacon system. Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral with the public and personnel. Ability to express ideas and information both orally and written. Ability to organize and maintain office files. Ability to check and correct correspondence when needed. Must have computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email. Valid North Carolina driver’s license is preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
