Khoury College of Computer Sciences is seeking a HR Associate to join Khoury’s HR team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing college!
Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Sr. HR Associate in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences. This position will provide critical administrative and logistical support in the area of personnel operations for six campuses: Boston, Seattle, Vancouver, Arlington, Oakland and SJ/SF, with future expansion in Miami.
HR responsibilities include the hiring of part-time faculty, grant funded employees, administrative staff, non-student temporary employees, and student workers. The HR Associate works with the Office of General Council and the Office of Global Services on processing the necessary paperwork for all H1B’s, permanent residency applications, J-1 Scholars/Scientists and completes the I-9 process for all new hires. The HR Associate also prepares all job requisitions and processes job changes and extensions. The Associate also provides guidance to managers, faculty and staff on a wide range of human resources topics and, when necessary, is an intermediary between managers, new hires and University Human Resources to resolve issues related to hiring, data accuracy, benefits, payroll, compliance, time tracking, etc.
Other responsibilities include staying current with all new Human Resources policies and procedures and maintaining Khoury HR systems. This position requires someone with a broad knowledge of human resources functions, from hiring to onboarding, employee compensation etc. The role is a critical member of the Dean’s core administrative team.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of human resources policies/procedures, programs and related employment laws. Ability to think critically and quickly grasp/apply new concepts. Ability to plan or organize work. Interpersonal skills to relate well to all kinds of people; communicate information clearly with the appropriate level of detail; build and maintain relationships; and use diplomacy and tact to comfortably defuse tense situations. High level of proficiency in MS Office applications [Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word] and ability to use core HR platforms. Knowledge and skills typically obtained through a related bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least one to three years of service, preferably in higher education.
