Experience
Manages the daily operations of the department to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Will provide leadership and oversight of modalities and functional areas within Imaging. Will ensure efficient operations, safe equipment utilization, motivational staff leadership, excellent customer service, successful regulatory compliance, and effective fiscal management. In this position, you will report to the Systems Manager. You will manage several modalities related to one facility across various sites.
Under the direction of the Director, and Chairman, manage the administrative, informational, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical performance compliance and operational functions of all patient care sections of the department. Serve as a leader and role model for Radiology employees within the organization and outside the organization. This person shall manage staffing concerns, collaborating on resource utilization, resolving performance management issues, as well as managing clinical activities. It is essential this individual exhibit leadership behaviors consistent with the Service Excellence Standards and Radiology mission by collaborating with the Administrative Director, Lead Technologists, Section VP, institution practice managers/nursing directors, radiology management team, radiology nurses and technologists, and radiology support personnel. Responsible for managing, monitoring and enforcing customer service initiatives across the Department, and collaborate in the management of quality program for radiology
Operations Management
- Assist manager and director to manage equipment service. In conjunction with biomedical, physicist and other stakeholders, lead projects related to new equipment selection, installation planning and implementation.
- Work in tandem with radiologists and physicist to obtain excellence in image quality and protocol adherence.
- Assesses the quality of patient care delivered, ensures safe and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary.
- Develop and implement staffing plans to meet operational needs of each modality or program. Oversee patient schedules in partnership with radiology IT and patient access.
- Oversees efficient patient flow using tools like LEAN, DMAIC and other process improvement aimed to improve process and workflow.
- Distribute and retain records of, and ensure compliance with, new and ongoing policies and procedures.
- Assist in monitoring and retention of records of dosimetry reports. Support oversight of corrective action as needed.
- Ability to lead and prioritize multiple tasks at a time in a dynamic environment without direct supervision.
- Ensures proper supply utilization and order.
People Management
- Schedule clinical staff to ensure proper customer service levels and imaging quality are consistently met. Address and resolve customer service concerns with follow-up to senior leadership.
- Review potential candidates, conduct new employee interviews and oversee new employee onboarding.
- Monitor and maintain records with Human Resources of active technologist licensure.
- Perform weekly review and approval of on-line timesheets.
Performance Management
- Manage staff relations including performance management, coaching, supporting staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
- Perform and oversees scheduling and payroll.
- Cross train technical staff in all applicable modalities
- Conduct monthly team meetings or more often, as needed.
- Develop a positive work environment by recognizing the positive contributions of the employees and by sharing information in an open and timely manner.
- Serve as the manager of the department/unit in the absence of the manager, as assigned.
- Ensure training for new services, equipment and technology.
Compliance/Safety
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
- Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee’s area of responsibility.
- If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
- Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Education
Associates Degree, or equivalent radiologic related experience – Required
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field – Preferred
Radiologic Technologist registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or Radiation Therapist – Required
Certificates and Licesure
Arizona license as required for at least one modality ARRT/ARDMS, NRC, ARMT – Required
CRA – Preferred
MGMA Practice Management Certification- Preferred
Experience
Minimum 10 years related imaging experience (clinical or administrative) or equivalent combination of education and experience – Required
Minimum 5 years leadership and management experience – Required
Current clinical knowledge in at least one modality, as the position may need to work in clinical as needed – Required

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
