Job Purpose

The Human Resource Director works directly with both Payroc’s management and its employees, as their work focuses on supporting strategic planning with senior leadership to recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new staff as the business rapidly scales up. The Human resource director is responsible for ensuring that the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resources plans, and programs are realized.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Enhances the Payroc’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
• Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
• Supports organization staff by establishing focused recruiting and talent searches, testing, and interviewing programs; counseling managers on candidate selection; compensation recommendations that secure top talent; conducting and analyzing exit interviews to improve engagement and retention; and recommending changes that can enhance culture, and inclusiveness.
• Business Partnering support to managers for assessment of talent needs and supporting workforce planning needs in a scaling business.
• Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
• Manages a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; and recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
• Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counseling employees and supervisors.
• Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; and designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
• Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, keeps fresh on all new regulations and laws that drive internal policies.
• As needed investigate employee relations issues. Analyzing information from various sources, examining potential liability business risks, drawing conclusion and solutions to ensure actions are legally complaint and per company values. Maintaining appropriate records, responding to claims and representing the business at hearings.
• Review disciplinary issues with management to identify best progressive options, as needed, recommending alternative paths to support success of the employee.
• Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
• Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
• Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Completes human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results providing coaching, support, and ideas to improve performance.
• Supports the HR team coaching on specialized approaches that will increase the capability and service of the entire HR function.
• Advances HR staff results by identifying, support and driving the communication and sharing of best practices within HR across all locations to facilitate continuous improvement and synergize practices, as it makes sense.
• Contributes to the team’s effort by accomplishing related results as needed, modeling success behaviors, a high-performance work ethic, and constant self-improvement.
• Ensures a safe work environment through support of safety policies, procedures, and testing. Know and communicate safety message with focus on keeping the employees safe. Manage specific projects as determined by the SVP and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives. Participates in HR project teams, programs and support community involvement

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required
• 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles, including full employee life cycle HR generalist experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Labor Relations and Employee Relations
• Talent acquisition experience in a rapidly scaling business focuses on people and cultural integration.
• Previous experience with creating or supporting workforce planning, job analysis, benchmarking, and compensation structures.
• Experience with building culture, engagement, and diversity in hybrid virtual environments.
• Knowledge and experience with multi-state employment laws.
• Global HR experience preferred.
• Experience in Business solutions or services preferred.
• PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred

Job Classification: Exempt

Definition: Certain types of employees, who are classified as exempt employees, are not entitled to overtime pay as guaranteed by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). If an employee is classified as exempt (vs. non-exempt) their employer is not required to pay them overtime pay.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
