Primary Purpose: Assists the Coordinator of Risk Management/Leave and Benefits in the administration of the districts benefit program. Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification): High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience. Major Responsibilities: 1. Assist with the employee benefit program which includes group health insurance, dental, life, cancer, disability, medical reimbursement and child care reimbursement. 2. Handle employee benefit inquiries and complaints; act as liaison between employees and insurance carrier’s office; resolve administrative problems with insurance carriers. 3. Process medical support orders and prepare verification letters for court ordered medical support. 4. Answer phone calls and respond to emails/voice mail daily. 5. Assist employees with a qualifying event and process their enrollment/cancellations. 6. Process enrollment forms which include entering into enrollment system and distributing forms to carriers. 7. Process COBRA using online system and respond to inquiries, process COBRA payments to carriers. 8. Reconcile monthly insurance statements with payroll deduction registers. 9. Assists in conducting benefits orientation meetings and enrollment of new employees in benefit plans; assist with coordination of annual enrollment process, including making group presentations and preparing, distributing, and receiving materials and forms. 10. Assists with maintaining all physical and computerized health insurance records and assist with required data entry; maintain and distribute insurance forms and supplies to campuses. 11. Attend Insurance Committee meetings. 12. Assist with the workers compensation program to include receiving and processing injury claims, communicate with third party claims administrator as needed and attend quarterly claim reviews. 13. Assist with unemployment claim processing. 14. Assist employees requesting Family Medical and/or Temporary Disability Leave. 15. Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations. 16. Perform other duties as assigned. Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of administration employee benefit program Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures Knowledge of administrative support and file maintenance techniques Knowledge of basic accounting principles Skill in working with various types of equipment including, but not limited to personal computers, fax machines, calculators, printers Skill in working with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications Skill in working in collaborative team based environments. Skill in interpreting and disseminating insurance and benefits information to individuals and groups Supervisory Responsibilities: None Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands): Prolonged use of computer; maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry at least 30lbs. Ability to work outside the normal work hours as needed.
