Job Summary:
Under the direction of the President, this position develops and manages all functions of Human Resources tasks including employment law and compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, onboarding, policy implementation, recruiting, safety and health, and wellness. The HR Generalist will also assist as liaison between external vendors to support office operations such as Information Systems, services and applications, and software/hardware.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and guidance on Human Resources policies and procedures to managers, supervisors, and employees
Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance; including but not limited to FMLA, FLSA, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, EEO, I-9, OSHA, COBRA, UI, ADA, etc.,
Ensures staffs compliance with HR policies and procedures
Partners with management to recruit, hire and retain staff according to company policies and best practices; maintains life cycle of each employee
Plans, creates and coaches to support organizational change management and communications
Administers benefits programs including, but not limited to, health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, and workers compensation. Ensures administration of enrollment, changes, and termination of benefits, provides education to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs, manages annual open enrollment period, and maintains compliance for all plan documents, reporting, and auditing
Administers and manages leave policies, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management, recognition, and morale; personal and professional training and development
Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis in conjunction with outside payroll service, to include wage changes, tax adjustments, garnishments, and change of personal information. Collects data, performs calculations, investigates and resolves discrepancies
Reviews any request for pay increases or other status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency; Recommend and/or approve all employee transitions, i.e. new hire, transfer, promotion, etc. in accordance with company policy
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance through continued professional development. Partners with the outside business consulting firm as needed/required
Responsible for managing employee relations activities from conducting investigations, conflict resolution, succession planning, performance improvement plans, and corrective action
Assist as a liaison between external vendors for Information Services, which may include database management, network support, installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrades to applications, systems and modules, software, and the procurement of appropriate hardware and software to ensure that the organization has high quality, efficient systems
All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Associate Degree in related business field and 1 year HR experience; or 3-5 years of related human resource experience and education combined
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
