Position Summary
The Science, Computing and Engineering Pathway at Portland Community College is looking for a Computer Aided Drafting & Design Instructor primarily at the Southeast Campus scheduled to begin Fall 2023.
This instructor will prepare PCC’s students for jobs at the cutting edge of technology through: the development of our CADD program, curriculum development, course instruction, and partnerships with local industry for internships and advisory boards, as well as other tasks as assigned. The position represents an outstanding opportunity to bring your expertise to lead and grow this vital academic program and to work closely with and mentor students. Has a passion for and/or recent experience with college-level teaching or adult training and strives for teaching excellence
Has applied experience in a drafting and design environment with demonstrated industry connections and ability to stay current with changing technologies and community support needs: This could include, but is not limited to: Ability to create 3D parametric CAD models, CAD assemblies and 2D drawings. Use of American National Standards Institute guidelines when designing and in producing production drawings. Experience in working as an integrated member of a drafting technology design team, collaborating on concepts and ideas related to a working project. Ability to apply a generalized understanding of design principles involving trigonometry and geometry when solving drafting and design problems. Hold current professional certifications through national organizations such as ADDA.org.
Has experience with a broad range of CADD topics and the willingness to teach and improve our curriculum across the courses the CADD department offers
Able to demonstrate the positive impact of your strong intercultural, interpersonal, and communications skills (written, oral and presentation) in a highly diverse environment including how you have adapted your practices to include a wide range of cultural knowledge, experiences, and perspectives, especially from historically untapped communities
Has the ability to respond to cultural shifts and changing community support needs to help improve our CADD program through curriculum development and pedagogical innovation. Open to working with teaching technologies such as Desire2Learn and other learning management systems.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Minimum of AAS Degree in either Drafting Technology or Engineering Technology*
Three years recent technical experience in mechanical or related design is required
*or related degree fields such as Design Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Industrial Design Technology
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant recent industry or education/teaching experience.//a
Starting Salary Expectations
Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($64,562) and Step 3 ($68,491) based on related experience, per PCC’s collective bargaining agreement.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee’s Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
* Please note:Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.
Paid Leave:
1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 per year)
21 hours of additional personal leave per year
4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
