A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
As a Human Resources Generalist, you run the daily functions of our HR department and ensure that we have a capable and happy workforce. You effectively administer or assist with all HR functions, including , retention, training, performance and talent management, time and attendance, compensation, benefits, employee relations, disciplinary meetings, terminations, HR-related policy development and implementation, and HR regulatory compliance. You facilitate positive employee relationships on all levels.
One of your primary goals is to ensure that top talent is hired in a timely and effective manner according to company needs. You manage our employer and internal brand, ensuring that we are perceived as an employer of choice by both current and potential employees. You implement new hire orientation and administer our employee recognition program as well as coordinate events such as benefits enrollment, company-wide meetings, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations. Your mission is to ensure excellent employee morale and high retention.
In addition to interacting with job candidates and new talent, you act as the primary point of contact for HR-related questions-always handling inquiries and changes with patience. To remain a valuable resource for such inquiries, you stay up to date on current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment laws. You also act as a liaison for external benefits providers and vendors. Conscientiously, you ensure compliance with laws and regulations as well as keep employee records accurate and up to date. You get a great deal of satisfaction out of helping us attract and hold on to our greatest asset!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
5+ years of human resource management experience
Thorough knowledge about employment-related laws and regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn about our human resources information system (HRIS) and talent management systems
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred but not required. An SHRM-CP or PHR certification would be a plus. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Can you effectively build relationships, negotiate, and resolve conflicts? Are you an organizational guru with great attention to detail? Do you manage your time well, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively?
