Patient Accounts Insurance Follow-Up Representative – Hybrid Option Available (Position is primarily remote. Employees are required to come into the office once a month for meetings and occasionally for team building activities)

Summary:

As a Patient Accounts Insurance Follow-Up Representative, you will be directly responsible for examining denied and underpaid professional and facility claims to determine reasons for discrepancies. The Patient Accounts Insurance Follow- Up Representative will be responsible for communicating with commercial and governmental payers to resolve billing issues to secure appropriate reimbursement in a timely manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Examines denied and underpaid claims to determine reasons for discrepancies
• Communicates directly with payers to follow up on outstanding claims, resolve payment variances, and achieve timely reimbursement
• Works with management to identify, trend, and address root causes of denials; helps pinpoint strategies for reducing A/R
• Maintains a thorough understanding of federal and state regulations, as well as specific payer requirements and explanations of benefits, to identify and report billing compliance issues and payer discrepancies
• Utilizes payer scorecards, identifies high-risk accounts, and prioritizes follow-up efforts
• Participates in continuous quality improvement efforts on an ongoing basis, establishing goals with supervisors and tracking progress

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Min of 1 year of relevant experience in medical or mental health account resolution, collections or professional billing strongly preferred
• Knowledge of claims review and analysis, along with a full understanding of healthcare explanation of benefits (EOB)
• Effective communication, organizational, and strong problem-solving skills required
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Maintains compliance with HIPPA guidelines when handling patient information
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, OneNote, Word)
• Experience with Medical Records
• Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID unless approved for a medical or religious exemption

Shift Hours:

• Hours for training are 8:00am – 4:30pm
• Shifts are flexible after training
