POSITION SUMMARY: The Center for Integrative Learning is seeking a Director of Academic Internships to develop and implement the vision, leadership, and strategic direction of the Academic Internship experience – finding, connecting to, applying for, and securing internships that align with academic and professional goals. The Director designs and manages these programs and coordinates the data collection and analysis of student learning outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Grow and scale academic internship participation.
● Build and maintain relationships with faculty in order to remain current on major-specific requirements and to promote internship opportunities.
● Collaborate with academic departments to ensure the integration of academic internships into the curriculum.
● Inform, educate, build, and maintain relationships with prospective internship employers.
● In partnership with the High Impact Committee, review and update policies and procedures relating to the funded internship process.
● Manage funded internship application and review process.
● Process funded internship payments in collaboration with University Relations and the Business Office.
● Manage the Academic Internship and Funded Internships program budgets.
● Create and manage policy development and program assessment.
● Support Center for Integrative Learning programs.
● Collaborate with the Center for Career and Professional Development to advise students on internships and plan career related programming.
WORK SUPERVISION:
This position involves supervising the internship team (student workers, professional staff).
● Delegation of work.
● Performance appraisals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Masters degree.
● Three years of work experience.
● Basic understanding of and commitment to value of student internship programs and experiential learning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites, and the ability to quickly learn other technologies.
● Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff.
● Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
● Ability to work in a team environment.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
● Ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities
● Proven ability to perform well in stressful situations
● Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups and a commitment to promote a work environment that values, encourages and considers diversity, inclusion and equity.
● Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular work schedule. Work occasional evenings and weekends.
