We are currently seeking a dedicated Stormwater Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing stormwater infrastructure, ensuring environmental compliance, and contributing to the overall well-being of our town.
Performs specialized technical inspections and public education and outreach work maintaining compliance with the Town’s Phase II NPDES permit and other water quality programs.
An employee in this class performs a variety of technical and public contact work in water quality, soil and erosion control and stream repair and restoration. Work includes conducting field inspections and enforcement to ensure compliance with approved plans for site stormwater runoff control to enforce soil erosion and sedimentation control ordinances; enforcing illicit discharge detection and elimination program and ensuring violations are remediated; participating in and overseeing various public education, involvement and outreach programs on stormwater, pollution prevention, and stream cleanup efforts; investigation complaints and concerns regarding erosion, drainage, runoff, wetland and riparian buffer impacts and other environmental concerns; and maintaining associated records and documentation. The employee also performs other engineering support and design tasks when needed. Work requires field work in the inspections and communications process. The employee exercises considerable judgment and independence of action including broad contacts with citizens, contractors and developers. Work may subject the employee to environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, and construction noise and hazards. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated based on conferences, review of completed work and records, adherence of work inspected to adopted plans and specifications, and observation of demonstrated skills.
