Utilities Operations Specialist I or II (dependent upon experience/qualifications): Utilities Operations Specialist I is the entry-level classification, and Utilities Operations Specialist II is the first-journey-level classification of the Utilities Operations Specialist series. Essential functions include operating a wide range of vehicles and equipment necessary to monitor, maintain, and repair the District’s water and wastewater systems such as vactor trucks, sewer television inspection equipment, backhoe, excavator, dump truck, boom truck, cut-off saw and hydraulic tools; and repairing, replacing, and maintaining sewer lines, manholes, water lines, pumping stations, wells, water tanks, water treatment stations, booster stations, odor control stations, fire hydrants and other essential parts of the District’s water and wastewater systems.
Experience/Certification Requirements for Operations Specialist I: At least one year of experience in water or wastewater construction or maintenance, plumbing or closely related field is required. The ability to obtain the following within 18 months is required; Class B Driver’s license, CA State Water Resources Control Board D1 Water Distribution Operator certificate, and California Water Environment Assoc. Grade I Collection System Maintenance certificate. See the Job Description for further information.
Experience/Certification Requirements for Operations Specialist II: At least two years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of sewer collection and water distribution systems comparable to a Utilities Operations Specialist I is required. Possession of the following is required; valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license, valid CA State Water Resources Control Board T1 Water Treatment Plant Operator certificate and D2 Water Distribution Operator certificate, and valid California Water Environment Assoc. Grade II Collection System Maintenance certificate. See the Job Description for further information.
