A Tire Repair Worker changes and repairs tires and tubes for various types of automotive and heavy duty motorized equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Facility Maintenance, Automotive Equipment Services Division, located in Honolulu at Halawa Baseyard.
Under the general supervision, this position is responsible for changing and repairing tires and tubes for various types of light, medium and heavy duty motorized equipment; applies applicable safety practices, rules and procedures and performs all duties in a safe and acceptable manner.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Special Working Conditions: Disaster Response Worker; Exposure to a potential explosive separation of a multi-piece rim wheel or a sudden release of the contained air of a single-piece rim wheel.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Some experience and/or training in changing and repairing automotive, truck, industrial and construction tires of all sizes.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the most common practices, tools, materials and equipment used in changing and repairing tires of various types and sizes; and the ability to learn to readily recognize and repair tire damage; remove and mount tires of all sizes; and operate tire changing and dismantling equipment.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.
