Responsibilities
The School of Nursing is seeking an experienced professional to manage various activities, policies and procedures related to Academic Personnel. Working closely with the Associate Dean for Academics and the Assistant Dean for Administration, the Academic Personnel analyst is the School of Nursing’s technical resource for faculty academic personnel actions, policies, and procedures related to faculty recruitments, appointments, merits / promotions and functions with a high degree of independence. This position provides support to the Assistant Dean for Administration in managing the School’s compensation plan and collaborates with the SON Human Resources Manager, as appropriate.
Provide strategic consultation on the faculty academic recruitment process at the SON, including advising on advertising and outreach to attract a diverse candidate pool; coaching the search committee on policy and procedure; making recommendations related to POP, CRN and other recruitment tools. Provide analysis to ensure integrity of the recruitment process. In consultation with the Assistant Dean for Administration, analyze candidate history and recommend the appropriate rank/step and salary to the Dean. Communicate process with selected candidates and provide status updates on behalf of the SON during the appointment process, in order to create an inviting atmosphere. Actively participate with the SON Human Resources Manager on the SON faculty onboarding committee to ensure a comprehensive and positive experience for new hires.
Develop a highly effective tracking mechanism of faculty recruitment, appointment and academic review history including demographics and statistics of applicants and appointees, degree, academic series, rank, title, merit and promotion cycle, FTE status, funding source, resource plan, and compensation. Working with the SON Human Resources Manager and the SON Business Operations Manager, analyze and submit reports to BIA regarding academic action status on behalf of the SON. Serve as the Dean’s MyInfoVault (MIV) data repository system trainer for School of Nursing faculty and staff. Along with the SON Human Resources Manager, serve on school and campus-wide AP Experts committee evaluating the effectiveness and potential improvements and identify priority list of improvements.
Using expert knowledge of UC/UCD policies and procedures, evaluate SON policies and procedures and propose recommendations for improvements; partnering with the SON Human Resources Manager to develop the communication and roll-out of new or revised procedures. Formulate SON guidelines for novel areas where formal policies do not already exist.
Manage Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS) per compensation plan requirements. Serve as a resource to faculty regarding policy for reporting outside activity. Ensure faculty complete reporting requirements by prescribed deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Experience in an academic personnel setting.
Experience interpreting and articulating academic personnel policies, procedures and processes to advise others and participate in assessing business processes and projects accurately and consistently.
Experience assessing problems and developing recommendations based on an understanding of policy and priorities, analysis of available information, and an awareness of current laws, issues and trends.
Experience maintaining and protecting confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated working knowledge of procedures in UC Path, AggieService, MyInfoVault (MIV), Academic Personnel History Information Database (APHID), RECRUIT, and Qualtrics.
A complete understanding and advanced knowledge of UC policies and procedures governing the Academic Senate and Academic Federation, as it relates to academic appointments (e.g., Faculty).
Familiarity with Health Sciences Compensation Plan administration.
General knowledge of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing’s academic mission.
Special Requirements
Ability to work onsite and remotely as required.
Travel on strict time schedules throughout the Sacramento and Davis Campus, including the surrounding vicinity.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
