Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting or related field (MBA preferred) and ten (10) or more years management & supervisory experience; OR fifteen (15) years related management experience; OR equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Position Summary
This position serves as the administrative director for the business office, and as a highly responsible and professional manager for visitor services and all facilities (buildings, etc.) for the unit. Responsibilities include oversight for facilities management, building maintenance, rental and visitor center departmental sales and services, custodial support, café and gift shop support, volunteer services, space assignments, etc. The incumbent has supervisory and budgetary responsibility for multiple departments, and supervises the Business office and unit HR activities with the support of the Assistant Director for Finance and HR. The incumbent is a member of the State Botanical Garden management team and serves as a resource for the Garden director and other management team members. It is essential that the incumbent maintain a close relationship with facilities and financial and administrative units at the University, serving on various department and University committees as appropriate. Daily tasks and responsibilities vary in nature and priorities are constantly shifting. The incumbent will effectively multi-task, re-prioritize, and adhere to strict deadlines. Strong leadership and effective communication with University and non-University individuals is essential. Maintenance of excellent visitor services is required.
