Director of Residence Life

Campus Housing seeks to develop students both in and out of the classroom through a rich residential curriculum, active
student involvement in the university’s mission, and students’ overall success. With the university and department at the
forefront of change, employees must demonstrate the ability to make timely, well-informed decisions, use professional judgment in complex
situations; and demonstrate critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills. The Director for Residence Life must be able to effectively
handle complex situations; work calmly and accurately to de-escalate situations and resolve escalated issues through constructive and
creative approaches.
Campus Housing is currently seeking a Director for Residence Life (DRL). The Director of Residence Life is
responsible for overseeing an engaging residential life operation that provides a positive and safe living environment that is conducive to
living and learning for students, staff, and guests. This position includes leadership, management, and oversight for the development and
implementation of a comprehensive curricular residence life program that focuses on academic retention and student development and the
continued development of a Faculty in Residence program. Works with student conduct; crisis response; diversity and inclusion; leadership
and advising; assessment; staff development, selection, recruitment, training and evaluation, and administration. This position directly
supervises three full-time staff as well as indirectly supervises full-time, part-time, graduate, and undergraduate staff. This position
involves making timely, well-informed decisions, using professional judgment in complex situations; and demonstrating critical, creative,
and reflective thinking skills and has budgetary oversight.
This position is the departmental subject matter expert as it relates to
student development, staff supervision, residential education, conduct & compliance, selection and training, and leadership
programs.
The position requires a master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, Management, Public administration
or other related education field strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years residence life supervisory and budgetary experience, preferably in
Higher Education. Working knowledge of university policy and procedures. Working knowledge of databases and general computer
skills.
