The Department of Natural Sciences (DNS) at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor of Biology in the area of immunotoxicology. DNS houses the biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and environmental science
undergraduate programs and graduate programs in Chemistry, Marine-Estuarine and Environmental Sciences, and Toxicology. We seek candidates
whose expertise and work bridge these programs. Candidates will develop and teach new courses, launch an independent research program,
mentor undergraduates in research, train graduate students in the department’s graduate programs, and contribute to departmental and
program self-governance.
Candidates should have the capacity to teach to a diverse student population and prepare students broadly
for futures in graduate and professional schools. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate introductory biology courses,
immunology, graduate level immunotoxicology, and/or courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates will develop a research
program focusing on the molecular basis of cell immune/adaptive response to pathogens, disease, or environmental factors, preferably
incorporating proteomic or metabolomic approaches.
Applicants must have a PhD in biology or related disciplines, a record of
publishing scientific reports, and experience teaching or mentoring to support student success.
