Washington Winnelson Co Hiring for Warehouse Shipping Supervisor at Fairfax County, VA Full Time

The Shipping Manager ensures complete orders are shipped and delivered in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner in accordance with company policies and all regulatory authority relating to the transportation of materials.

DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES Include

• Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment.
• Coordinate activities with other team members (receiving, picking, etc.)
• Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders.
• Track, check, prioritize and route orders.
• Manage all related documentation (for example pick tickets, bills of lading etc.)
• Collaborate with Warehouse Operations Manager to optimize processes and work on reducing overall freight costs.
• Resolve issues regarding shipped orders.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and with laws and regulations relating to transportation, including hazardous materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 1 year of cumulative relevant experience in logistics, distribution or shipping.
• Knowledge of logistics procedures and regulations.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend as normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Washington DC area including roads and routing.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Ability to understand and apply Company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in use of e-mail and office software (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to use the Company’s internal system ( through training and three to six months of on-the-job experience.)
• Ability to resolve issues independently with effective, realistic solutions.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Working knowledge of UPS, FedEx and DHL online systems, etc.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant information.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Demonstrated strong work-ethic and leadership ability.
• Ability to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English to interact with all levels of the organization.
