The HR Manager position will be responsible for HR functions within the terminals located in Illinois . This position will act as a strategic partner to terminal operations and will assist in developing and implementing human resource strategies in order to support the organizations overall strategic objectives. This position may also be responsible for objectives outside of the traditional HR role such as fill-in administrative duties, public relations, branding, planning of company events & more.
Duties & Responsibilities:
– Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and hiring process of driver & non-driver positions. Collaborate with management to meet departmental staffing needs. Writes and places advertisements utilizing a variety of sources to maximize results. Coordinate and conduct interviews, pre-employment testing, background checks and reference checks.
– Administer and assist in the development of effective orientation and onboarding program for new non-driver employees. Administer new hire paperwork and benefits presentations for all new employees. Process new hire paperwork; input into HRIS system(s).
– Maintain and update job descriptions, compensation structures, organizational charts and performance evaluation program.
– Recommend and assist in the implementation of company policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbooks on policies and procedures and ensure company-wide compliance.
– Administer various employee benefit programs and ensure legal compliance. Performs benefits administration to include distribution and communication of enrollment materials and corresponding deadlines, answer employee inquiries, benefit claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow.
– Maintain all employee files (including I-9 forms) and ensure compliance through regular audits.
– Administer FMLA/Leave of Absence process in accordance with state and federal regulations.
– Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance. Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes to management.
– Work closely with management to provide them with guidance, coaching and support on the full range performance management and corrective action. Help identify process improvements to gain efficiencies and accuracy. Assist management in monitoring employee performance, documentation of performance issues and oversee disciplinary action in accordance with company policy.
– Provide advice and guidance on employee relations cases, ensuring that these are well managed and meet the requirements of the company’s policies, best practice and employment legislation. Lead investigation and resolution of employee relations problems, anticipate problems whenever possible, and develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.
– Provide advice and guidance on employee terminations to eliminate company liability. Conduct exit interviews. Prepare termination reports. Respond to unemployment claims.
