Position Overview: The function of this role is to support both the client-facing Human Resources team and the internal operations team in its delivery of services to XcelHR’s clientele within its service models. The HR Generalist is expected to exercise autonomy in matters of low complexity, and processes and procedures for which he or she has received detailed instruction. Having a strong familiarity with available resources, the HR Generalist contributes to processes and procedure improvements that optimize the performance of the HR department. Excellent communication skills, oral and written, are essential. This includes the ability to foster clarity in all exchanges with colleagues and clients. Strong research skills and the ability to apply new knowledge appropriately to similar situations are required to perform at a high level in this position.

Essential Duties:
- Field incoming calls and emails for the HR Department, providing an excellent point of contact for clients. Appropriately direct and /or escalate questions and /or issues.
- Manage various forms of paperwork, including tracking open issues and the status of pending requests.
- Assist with recruiting internal candidates by properly screening them, setting up interviews with hiring managers, and submitting candidates for hire to the executive team.
- Administer various confidential tasks and programs as requested, including but not limited to:
- Background checks (submit requests, track pending requests, and relay results).
- Drug Screening (ensure necessary policies are in place and release forms obtained, supply forms to participating clients, track pending requests, convey results).
Facilitate the delivery of various HR products and services, for example by:
- Producing employee handbooks (data entry from client questionnaire, production of a quality draft for client, revisions, formatting, printing, binding, shipping, etc.).
- Disseminating updated compliance materials such as labor law posters, ensuring any appropriate charges are communicated to the client and to the accounting department.
- Reconcile vendor invoices, allocate expenses accurately to the spending source (client or internal), and communicate those to the accounting department for billing purposes.
- Coordinate with the operations teams to direct questions and issues requiring involvement from other departments; assist with follow-up to ensure resolution within the guidelines of any existing inter-department Customer Service Agreement.
- If and as requested, conduct proactive client outreach calls, notifying appropriate departments of any information that should come to their attention.
- Research, gather, and organize information on various HR topics as requested by HR team members.
- Assist other HR team members in deploying revised client materials, such as all-in-one labor law posters, to clients who need them (tracking any charges and relaying them so they can be reflected on client invoices).
- Coordinate with the team to ensure new hire packets reflect any necessary document updates, as indicated by the HR Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Two years prior experience in a Human Resources position (preferred).
- Education or prior experience in Human Resources is a plus.
- Proven proficiency in all areas listed under Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, above.

- Diplomacy. The ability to maintain a pleasant manner, tact, and diplomacy in challenging circumstances.
- Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to be productive and efficient under varying volumes of workload and rapidly shifting priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
