The New York City Montessori Charter School is in a period of expansion. We are a progressive K-5 public charter school located in the South Bronx, with a mission to empower children to be critical thinkers and creative problem solvers. We are looking for passionate educators to join our team in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
This position is perfect for an individual who has experience working in NYC public schools or teaching Elementary or Middle school, and is passionate about building a warm and inclusive classroom environment for all learners. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering instruction to a class of up to 26 students, and/or to a small group of students
- Using assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards
- Differentiating instruction to provide access for all learners
- Collaborating with stakeholders to prepare teacher reports for use during IEP meetings
- Actively participating in team and staff meetings, professional development and training sessions
- Adhering to deadlines, dress code and school policies
The right candidate will have:
- Full-time teaching experience and a demonstrated track record of propelling students’ academic growth and mastery
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- An unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels
- A high level of personal organization and planning
- Be passionate about urban education and closing the achievement gap
- A “can do” attitude and be a team player, relentless in the pursuit of the school’s academic objectives
- A strong desire to grow, and actively seek out constructive feedback
The salaries we offer are competitive with those of the NYC Department of Education and of other charter schools, and are based on experience and qualifications. All teachers receive a comprehensive benefits package.’
