Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all employee and company proprietary information.
• Deliver exceptional customer service at all times; applying strong communication skills to all interactions with DPI employees, vendors, management, the public at large.
• Maintain a highly visible profile to employees and maintain an open, sincere disposition for employee concerns and suggestions.
• Apply discretion to interactions with employees on sensitive issues; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; educate others on the value of diversity.
• Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
• Direct and facilitate the execution of onboarding/off boarding orientation experience; monitor process and outcomes; conduct onboarding/new hire orientation and training
• Provide input and suggestions for improvements to existing HR programs and processes.
• Coordinate and provide management training in interviewing, hiring, promotions, disciplinary processes, performance review, terminations, safety, and sexual harassment.
• Address complex employee relations issues; identify resolutions and advise management in appropriate strategies/solutions; effectively communicating potential consequences of actions.
• Respond to second level/elevated inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
• Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
• Work with managers/supervisors regarding salary administration/program to ensure compliance and equity within organization; consult with managers as to safety policy and processes, assume a role on accident review boards.
• Represent HR department in multidisciplinary teams, such as safety, site awareness, accident investigation, and site planning committees.
• Conduct wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate and make recommendations.
• Participate site specific and enterprise wide promotions and projects.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Direct employees to appropriate company resources for employee benefit plans such as 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, AD&D, EAP and Workers’ Compensation insurance and processes appropriate forms as applicable.
• Maintain a clean personal work environment.
• Other duties may be assigned to fulfill DPI’s objectives and/or job duties and requirements may be changed as needed to meet current and future business needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The employee must have strong oral and written communication skills in English and have intermediate math skills in order to calculate proportions, analyze data, trends and forecast budgets and employment needs. A bachelor’s degree and/or professional human resources certification is required. A minimum five years’ experience in Human Resources is required. Previous experience in a union environment is preferred. Previous experience with an HRIS/HCMS is required. Must demonstrate proficiency with navigating DPI’s HR systems within 90 days of hire. Must be comfortable with and able to navigate third party vendors’ databases and programs.
Work Environment: The work is typically indoors in an office environment. The employee may be exposed to 3 different temperature climates (Ambient, Cold, Freezer) when tasks require them to go on site in the warehouse or other facility areas.
Work Hours: The work schedule is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Initial start time may vary, with work hours typically from 8am-5pm. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs.
Physical and Mental Demands: Sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, or negligible amounts of force frequently, to move objects. This job also requires constant sitting. Constant use of the upper extremities is required to reach, handle, and position tools and equipment. The employee must know and follow proper safety protocols, DPI grooming, hygiene and dress code requirements; able to efficiently use Microsoft Office Programs and HR data systems to retrieve information, generate documents, organize travel schedules and coordinate meetings. The employee must also be able to maintain and preserve confidentiality of company and employee information, possess impulse control and frustration tolerance, and be able to manage time and multiple competing demands.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees the activities of the HR Assistant and Coordinator.
