Our client is an established, stable manufacturer in Johnstown, PA This Human Resource Manager will be responsible for all aspects of HR. This is a newly created position so it is an opportunity to build and own Strategic HR but you also must be willing to roll your sleeves up and dig into the tactical work.
Primary responsibilities of the role are as follows:
Provides advice and counsel to CEO, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and employees regarding laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practices related to employment matters and employment laws
Serves as primary Company representative in Agency ie DOL, PHRC, etc. and Unemployment Hearings.
Responsible for managing a range of activities related to employee relations and be vigilant over unionization avoidance.
Stay current with all government regulations including all FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA etc.
Manage Company actions related to adherence to Company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment.
Collaborate with Director of Compliance as needed on Workers’ Compensation or other safety initiatives that require employee relations support.
Primary Management back-up to Director Compliance in matters of injury management and Workers’ Compensation
Handles retention activity such as conducting stay interviews and exit interviews, coordinates employee separation notices and related documentation.
Coordinate and oversee benefit related audits ie dependent audit, claims audit
Background check/drug screening process oversight and vendor management
Provides employee policy, performance management and compliance training and support to supervisors/managers
Provides counsel to managers on employee performance or behavioral matters including recommending appropriate corrective action, performance improvement steps, disciplinary action and terminations
Provides consultation to employees and retirees to answer their benefit questions, resolve problems related to access to or payment of benefits.
Assists the Company and HR department in the coordination and analysis of annual benefit renewals
Primary consultant in administering retirement plans including the 401k, defined benefit and ESOP.
Prepares and publishes all Federal and State required disclosures, ERISA documents. Etc. on the company Intranet on an as needed basis.
Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a thorough understanding of the Human Resource body of knowledge.
Must be familiar with a variety of human resource field concepts, practices, and procedures.
Must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks and rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
Must have working knowledge of Training, Performance Measures, Recruitment and Staffing, Employee Relations, Human Resources Information Systems, etc.
Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
Ability to effectively work with Directors and C-Suite leadership to advise and align executive objectives with HR deliverables.
Must be able to understand written correspondence.
Must have strong computer skills utilizing programs such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Access, Excel, or equivalent.
Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
Must maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Must have excellent organizational and time management skills in order to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and on one’s own initiative.
Must have the ability and interpersonal skills to successfully work as a team member to obtain desired results.
Must be able to understand and apply work-related documents such as procedure manuals.
Must be able to understand and perform to job-related quality standards and methods.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum 5-10 years’ generalist human resource experience with a proven background in employee relations
HRIS experience required.
SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP and(or) Master’s Degree in HR or related field preferred.
Human resources management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
