We are looking for an HR Generalist to join our Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Generalist would be working in partnership with another HR Generalist, along with HR intern(s) and other support staff. This HR Department supports 875 employees, all of whom are providing in-home personal care and supportive homemaking services for frail elders, adults with chronic illnesses or disabilities. Our agency works to assist clients remain safe and independent in their own home.
While this is a generalist position and the individual will be trained to cover various areas of HR, this individual will primarily focus on managing employee investigations, disciplinary actions, separations, unemployment insurance, and assisting with payroll functions.
To be successful in this position a person should be organized, flexible and adaptable, have the ability to deal with complex issues, possess strong leadership qualities, possess Human Resources experience, and make effective decisions while acting in accordance with labor laws, standards, and policies.
JOB SUMMARY: Primary responsibilities include: 1) Complete all aspects of the hiring process for field employees– reviewing applications, completing necessary background checks, conducting interviews, completing reference checks, providing company orientation, and completing all necessary “new hire” paperwork. 2) Conduct field employee counseling and terminations, as needed. 3) Maintain and organize all field employee personnel files and databases. 4) Assist/support billing department and field employees with payroll set-up, management, and reporting. 5) Act as a liaison with Union and/or office staff regarding field employee issues/grievances, company policy and procedure, salary/benefits. 6) Collaborate with government and other outside agencies relative to formal employee complaints (DWD/EEOC), unemployment hearings, worker’s compensation claims, verification of employment, etc. All tasks are to be completed via set policy and procedure and in compliance with all applicable employment laws and HIPAA regulations.
