The City of Wasilla is currently recruiting for a summer seasonal Aquatic Equipment Operator position. The Aquatic Equipment Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the weed harvester while safely removing the aquatic weed growth in the lake and performing general maintenance and cleaning of the harvester equipment. This is a full-time position with hours 7 am- 3:30 pm, half hour unpaid lunch, Monday through Friday. It will run from July 10th to September 1st and functions under the direct supervision of the Public Works Supervisor.
A successful candidate is someone who is comfortable around water, has some knowledge of boat operations and mechanics, experience working on a similar type of equipment, and is able to work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions as expected in the Alaskan summer months.
This is a temporary, non-benefitted, non-regular position with the Public Works Parks and Properties department.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear. Full range of mobility as required to operate the aquatic harvester. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, close, color, peripheral, and depth vision along with the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to extreme cold or heat and humid or wet conditions not always due to the weather. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. This position will generally work Monday through Friday either full time temporary for up to 89 days or may work part time from June to late August or early September. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.
