Operations Manager – Automation

Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the coordination and delivery of multiple, simultaneous Building Automation projects of various complexities. – The Automation Operations Manager has fiscal responsibility for all project facets, including project billing, job cost reporting, and overall customer satisfaction.
· Leads an in-house team of project managers, engineers, technicians and subcontractors to ensure that all Automation Projects are performed on-time, on budget and to a high-quality standard
· Provides hands-on supervision of the work of all HVAC and other subcontractors engaged by the Automation Department
· Responsible for ongoing jobsite safety and the identification of additional energy conservation measures
· Provides constructability review of all Ecosave Automation projects and approves handovers from construction to service
· Responsible for mentoring and developing all Automation team members
· Responsible for the continued education and training of team members
· Manages customer needs and expectations as a forward point of contact
· Reports to EVP of Engineering and Construction
· Consults with Director of Utility Management Services, Technician Manager, Automation Engineering Manager, and VP of Ecosave Smart Buildings to ensure smooth project handovers and excellent ongoing service
· Oversees the daily workflow of the Automation department and ensure team members meet goals and objectives
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
· Maintains positive relationships with all customer representatives
· Manage the Automation Project Managers in the execution of their duties.
· Works with Automation Engineering and technicians as required to ensure successful completion of projects.
· Manage projects following project processes, coordinating work activities with application engineers, system specialists and subcontractors
· Coordinates resource planning and scheduling.
· Complete projects per the contractual requirements within budget, on-time and with a high level of customer satisfaction
· Responsible for the overall financial performance of assigned projects including project planning, progress billing, revenue forecasting, A/R collections and re-estimating costs of installation projects.
· Manage the delivery of the contracted scope and secure change orders for the expansion of scope
· Material management through Quality Control process, engineering review and material procurement. Coordinate project materials with subcontractors and the use of shared resources; identify resource constraints, and assist with corrective action plans to remedy any issues
· Manage relationships with sub-contractors through contract procurement, project planning and coordination of work activities, identifying issues, and take corrective action plans to remedy any project issues
Qualifications
· Hold at least a technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering or equivalent field experience of > 10 years
· Factory training on Building Automation is desirable
· PMP Certification preferred
· Bachelor’s Degree in technical field is preferred
· 5+ years of experience leading a construction team
· Knowledge of building automation systems a plus
· Prior experience in the energy industry a plus
· Strong command of the English language; spoken, written, and presentational forms
· Strong command of Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other relevant business software
· Demonstrated track record in commercial and institutional HVAC service
· Demonstrated track record in customer service
· Technical experience with energy-efficient technologies of various types
· Previous experience in Automation engineering, Project Management and Automation Technician is preferred.
Skills
· Prior experience in Construction, HVAC and/or Building Automation is a must
· Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience required
· 10 years Building Automation and HVAC Controls experience preferred
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project and other Windows products
· Working knowledge of MS Visio, Adobe PDF, Bluebeam REVU or other CAD and MEP software
· Proficient in understanding MEP and Building plans, Automation service provider requirements, scope of work etc.
· General knowledge of employment laws and practices
· Demonstrated knowledge of project financial reporting
· Ability to lead and motivate teams
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Strong problem solving, planning and project management skills
· Ability to read and understand scope of work
