JOB SUMMARY:
Performs intermediate level professional work for the Village of Wellington in the inspection of one or more functional areas of assignment (e.g., building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, residential). Position is responsible for performing skilled technical inspection, enforcement, and administrative work in relation to compliance with local, state, and federal construction codes for new and existing construction.
Work is performed independently under limited supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position typically requires processing and interpreting of more complex, less clearly defined issues.

Regular attendance at work on-site is essential to maintain the necessary teamwork, personal interaction, and supervision that this position requires. Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes or other critical events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability. Must have manual dexterity and be able to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, or fingers. Must be able to perceive color and depth. Tasks involve prolonged eye use and/or fine visual ability; computer work, reading text, visual inspections, or measurement devices. Must be able to follow visual cues or signals.
