This position is available to City of SeaTac employees and the general public. This position is overtime eligible and a member of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Unit.
This is a part-time position that will work a minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 30 hours per week. Must work evenings, weekends, holidays and/or special events when required.
Under the supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the employee occupying this position prepares Community Center facilities for use; monitors recreational activities at the Center to ensure that they are safe, proper and appropriate; provides a variety of clerical and office support duties to Center staff; provides information and assistance to the general public.

Required Education and Experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general rules, practices and terminology of recreational activities
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment
Knowledge of proper methods of setting up and storing furniture, equipment, materials and supplies
Skill in communicating effectively with staff and the general public about the City’s recreation program and Community Center activities in person and over the telephone
Skill in operating office equipment such as calculators, copiers and facsimile machines
Skill in telephone techniques and etiquette
Ability to perform custodial and light maintenance duties
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
Ability to observe and implement legal and defensive driving practices
Ability to use tact, patience and courtesy
Ability to establish rapport and maintain cooperative working relationships with groups of youth, adults and/or seniors
Ability to maintain a recreational facility in a safe, clean and orderly condition
Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and apply first-aid when necessary

WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor recreational (office/gymnasium/weight room) environment, subject to noise, distractions and interruptions; in-vehicle driving environment, subject to traffic, weather and the dangers associated with transporting people in an urban environment. Variable work schedule including evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Physical agility and stamina; lifting, walking and overall physical movement; carrying, pushing or pulling; moderate lifting up to 50 pounds; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; seeing to read program materials; hearing and speaking to exchange information with others.
HAZARDS:
Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals; driving a motor vehicle during hazardous weather conditions. Cleaning surfaces that require bloodborne pathogen protocol to be followed.
