Brief Description
Analyzes and evaluates State legislative proposals and agency rule changes for impact to Dallas County’s interests. Maintains relationships between the County and federal or state Agency.
Detailed Description
Monitors and reports on State and Federal agency and legislative hearings and meetings; documents the legislation affecting the organizational operation; maintains relationships with governmental representatives with the goal of advancing and promoting the organization’s businesses. Identifies issues of public policy and organizational importance; assists with drafting and submitting memos, releases or legislative proposals which are designed to benefit Dallas County; generates government and public support. Analyzes and researches proposed State and Federal legislation and agency rules which may affect Dallas County; provides recommendations with regard to proposed legislation that may impact organizational operations. Works with Department Heads and Elected Officials to determine legislative goals and strategies with current State and Federal legislation and agency rules; ensures consistency with corresponding regulations and laws. Prepares material and assists with securing authors to sponsor legislation that has been approved by Commissioners Court. Act as a liaison between County and State or Federal legislative entities; provides information to the local State and Federal delegation about Dallas County Government. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work-related experience. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Standard office environment.
