The primary responsibility of the Accounts Receivable Clerk in Floyd County’s Auditor’s Office is to maintain receipting records as mandated by the State on a daily basis. Additionally, this position assists the Auditor with maintaining department operations, compiling and coordinating County accounts payable duties and assisting the public, as needed.
DUTIES:
Responsible for maintaining receipting of daily deposits. The State of Indiana has mandated a five-step process that must be performed in conjunction with the Treasurer’s Office to ensure proper controls are in place.
Researching ACH deposits from State, DOC, etc. to ensure deposits are made to correct fund.
Totals and balances all deposits to cross check for accuracy; maintains accurate records within Auditor’s Harris System.
Develops account receivable reports as required.
Prepares and maintains Commissioners Journal of POD claims for signatures at meetings.
Initiates and implements accounts receivable procedures for County programs and all County departments.
Assists with balancing Surplus funds with the Treasurer’s office.
After receipting funds for CVET, FIT, CEDIT, CAGIT, Education Plate Fund, Bureau of Tourism fund, Settlement funds, Fines & Forfeitures, Judges Supplemental Salary, Congressional School Fund, Retirees Insurance and Riverboat funds, then prepares claims for AP to process.
Answers phone and greets visitors, providing information and assistance, and transferring/directing to appropriate personnel.
Maintains accurate records and files; numbers, files and stamps all deposits, binding receipts as appropriate.
Orders and inventories all office supplies.
Assists other office personnel upon request, including accounts payable, assisting in tax billing procedures and mortgage / homestead filings and prepares council minutes as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
